Out-of-State Abortion Care

Over 6-weeks pregnant and need help accessing abortion care?
TBAF can help!

(Click here to jump to the list of TBAF’s out-of-state clinic partners)

With the Florida Supreme Court’s decision to strike down the right to abortion in the state, the ban on abortions after six weeks of pregnancy is now scheduled to take effect on May 1st, 2024. This cruel, extreme ban will effectively cut off abortion access within the state of Florida, as most people do not know they are pregnant until around or after the six-week mark.

“However, Tampa Bay Abortion Fund wants the Tampa Bay community to know that we are ready, and we are here to help you access abortion no matter what.

TBAF is fully committed to helping pregnant people in the Tampa Bay area access and pay for abortion care outside of Florida. We have spent this year working with our partners in less-restrictive states, including abortion funds and clinics, to build up the capacity and resources necessary to get people the care they deserve as quickly as possible. For the most up-to-date list of the out-of-state clinics where TBAF provides financial support, please see below.

If you live in Florida, but NOT in Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties, there are other abortion funds that can help! Check out all Florida Funds at floridaabortionfunds.com or check out the list of Abortion Funds supporting people from other parts of the state here.

If you need help with: financial assistance, logistical support, or practical support (like transportation, childcare, etc), please see the information below.
TBAF can help.

Information on this website is intended for informational purposes only,
and is not legal or medical advise. Last updated 7/1/2022.

TBAF acknowledges that abortion bans are unnecessary, only cause harm, and harm those already most marginalized. Our volunteers are actively working to fight against these cruel bans, including Florida’s new 6-week ban.

TBAF works with Abortion Clinics and Abortion Funds in other states to ensure that Tampa Bay residents and all Floridians can still get access to safe abortion care.

Accessing Abortion after 6-Weeks of Pregnancy

This is NOT an exhaustive list of clinics.
This map is a list of clinics that TBAF currently works with.

TBAF’s list of clinics below includes notes that may be important to consider before you book your appointment:

What is your current estimated gestation? Have you had an ultrasound recently? (Wait time at clinics may depend on your gestation. And if you’ve had an ultrasound recently, your chosen clinic may ask to see a copy. If you’re unsure, contact your local clinic first, or use this pregnancy calculator. Be aware of clinics posing as abortion care providers that offer “free ultrasounds” but actively spread misinformation about abortion.)

Do you need financial assistance towards your appointment costs? (There are many local and national organizations and Abortion Funds that may be able to assist. Many will ask what amount you’re able to put towards your appointment, so they can help fund as many clients as possible. It’s helpful to make a note of how much you have towards your appointment.)

Are you able to fly to a clinic? (Clinics and abortion funds may be able to provide financial assistance for the cost of a flight)

Do you prefer to drive to a clinic? (Some of the closest options for those over 6-weeks EGA, are at least an 8 hour drive. These states also have some legal restrictions.)

Are you under 18 years old? (Some states, like Georgia and Florida, require a minor to have parental consent or a judicial bypass.)

Do you have a support person to travel with you? (Some abortion funds may be able to assist with this additional expense, or may need to know when planning logistics.)

Do you have certain time restrictions? (Some states and some clinics have requirements that may require you to be out-of-state for more than two days. Others may allow you to fly back to Florida ASAP.)

Do you need any other practical support assistance? (For example: assistance finding childcare, local transportation, food assistance, doula support, etc. Make a note of these needs and clinics or abortion funds may be able to assist with them!)

We hope to help with these questions and concerns with the information listed below about each clinic…

TBAF can help with these AND link you to clinics and abortion funds. For assistance: contact TBAF’s Intake Line at 727-314-3956.

If you do not need logistical assistance from TBAF, you can contact one of the clinics listed below, to schedule your appointment. When you scheduled with them, let them know about your specific needs, and they will link you with support networks and abortion funds in their area to provide you assistance. After your appointment is scheduled, contact TBAF and we can help with any remaining assistance needed.

If you need logistical assistance from TBAF, please call us at 727-314-3956.
